Steven Vaughn, born in the Midwest and raised in Massachusetts, began dancing very young at various dance studios and continued through high school. He graduated cum laude with awards from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA in 2009 earning a BFA & MFA Dance.
While in Philadelphia, he worked with Brian Sanders, Jennifer Binford- Johnson, Scott Jovovich, Curt Haworth, Silvana Cardell and more. After an apprenticeship with the company during his final year at UArts, Steven was a dancer with Parsons Dance (under David Parsons) until 2014. While in New York City, he worked with Monica Bill-Barnes, Robert Battle, and Kate Skarpetowska among others. He performed in Teddy Forance and Jon Arpino’s CLI dance documentary “Movement One” starring Stephen “tWitch” Boss and he can be seen on “Law and Order:SVU”.
He has taught across the United States, Italy and Israel and has been commissioned by Houston Metropolitan Dance Co., SHARP Dance Co., Harvard University, Westchester University, Long Island University, and other college dance programs.
He is currently living in Philadelphia, PA and completing a MFA in Dance from Hollins University in Virginia under director Jeffery Bullock. Steven is on faculty at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, as well as various studios in the greater Philadelphia area. He continues to choreograph, teach and perform as a guest artist and for his own troupe, Open Category Dance Co.
